This month, opt to change one product with fewer chemicals.
The last thing I want to do is change my skin products or skin routine.
First of all, I have all that I need at this point. I can’t imagine how it would be to completely change it, try new products and see what I like.
Besides, I have the same basic routine each and every day (with the goal of getting out of the door as quickly as possible).
I use a very simple facial cleanser on my skin in the morning and I wear a light moisturizer. I apply a little bit of makeup (and always lipstick because it makes me feel refreshed) and I’m ready to start my day!
I don’t spend a lot of money on expensive treatments or “miraculous” night products. A splash of water at the end of the day is about the extent of my nighttime beauty regimen.
Although it’s simple, I like my beauty routine and I probably would have stuck with it forever – I’m set in my ways ?
But then I discovered Beautycounter. They are making a bold move and really highlighting the fact that many mass-produced skincare products are full of toxic chemicals.
I started to learn more and more about how potentially harmful all of the products I have been using since I was a teenager could be to my body. But replacing all of them felt SO daunting and it would be expensive, for sure.
BUT….
And this is a HUGE BUT (and yes, my butt is also huge).
What if my skin care routine is making me sick? Like, really really sick? Like opening me up to the possibilities for cancer or other endocrine issues (I’ve already dealt with infertility…). Here I am eating a plant-based diet and exercising like a fiend to stay healthy and live a long happy life, and what if this is more harmful than anything else?
What Beautycounter offers in my humble opinion of this fast-growing company, are not just excellent products, but also awareness and therefore empowerment to make better decisions.
I think of my growing teenager and tween daughters – these are the kinds of make up and skin care products that I would like them to use, and I know I need to set a good example!
So, I made a pact with myself.
Every month, I will replace one of my products with a Beautycounter product. This month, I will be replacing my concealer, with this one. Next month I will replace my eyeliner, and the month after that, I will be replacing my foundation. It will be simple, and painless.
And if I don’t like it? Their return policy is awesome. 60 days.
This way, I don’t break the bank, but I make steps towards completely changing over to a safer, cleaner skin care routine. And within about one year, I will have a cabinet full of products that I can feel good about using.
Join me?
We’d love to hear the great ways that you’re working to keep chemicals out of your skin care routine! What products will you replace this month?
With love and gratitude,
