Maybe you are like me and you are taking a greater interest in learning about the various chemicals in our everyday products. What exactly is in my facial moisturizer? What are parabens and do I need to worry?
For sure, it’s all very very confusing, and I think the various manufacturers want us to be confused.
But, when I read the following facts, I sat up and took notice and began to think differently about what I put on my body (our largest organ!):
- The United States has not passed a federal law to regulate the ingredients used in personal care products since 1938.
- The European Union has spent the past two decades banning or restricting more than 1,300 ingredients, the US has only banned 11 to date.
Wait, what?
And then we found out about Beautycounter.
By the way, we are definitely not into touting other companies, but I really felt compelled, especially when there is mounting evidence of skincare chemicals interfering with our fertility and the delicate balancing of our hormones.
Beautycounter has taken it upon themselves to ban over 1400 chemicals from ever entering their formulas. Without sacrificing quality and effectiveness, they have developed an entire product line of personal care products that are beautiful, high-quality and enjoyable to use.

And here is a link to their bestsellers. I am starting to use their lipsticks, and I can tell you how velvety they are, do not smell funny and stay put for a long time!
We would love to hear your thoughts on Beautycounter and any other ways that you’re working towards using products that are safer for your body.
With love + gratitude,
*POST UPDATE*
In our desire to be as transparent as possible (and quite frankly we should have addressed this from the get-go) is that yes, given our newfound love for not only WHAT this company represents but the products they have poured their heart and soul into, we decided to become an affiliate for them! We are so proud of this new relationship and it’s something that anyone can do! Let us know if you have any questions as we can help steer you in the right direction on becoming a consultant. Thanks for your understanding as we should have said this upfront!

Is BeautyCounter an affiliate of yours?
Joanne says
Hi Kim!
Holy cow – yes, we are an affiliate for Beautycounter. And your comment made me (Joanne here) realize that I failed to mention that and be totally transparent! Both Sue and I have been so impressed with Beautycounter as a business, including what they represent and the products they have worked tirelessly for, that we decided to take the bold move and represent them as an affiliate. We have updated our post to reflect this and will send out another email explaining this. Thank you for asking this question! Please let me know if you have any additional ones.
